The 2019 exhibition in Utrecht was dedicated to achieving national climate targets and reducing CO2 greenhouse gases.

Cemwood consists of petrified or cemented microchips. The process takes place in 2 phases: The first phase is done in Stegeren: the Europe Chippers from Europe Forestry BV in Stegeren make micro chips from softwood. Those are very small blocks of wood. With the press of a button every Europe Chipper is able to make every chip size. This system, called vario-chip, is an invention of Europe Forestry BV. The second phase is taking place in Magdeburg Germany. There, these wooden microchips are transformed into small “stones”. This process is patented and takes 6 weeks. That is still faster than in nature where it takes millions of years. 

The joint Cemwood screed developed with Germany combines almost all the unique properties that a screed must have: insulating, fire-resistant, leveling, sound-absorbing and with a buffer of CO2! Circular, high carrying capacity, no drying time and no damage due to moth or rust. In addition, without the use of water or binder and extremely suitable for dynamic loads and light weight. Our screed has been tested as a “baubiologically unbonded VOC.” The combination of all of these properties in one floor has so far proved impossible for screeds, which could mean a breakthrough at global level to achieve climate targets for the reduction of CO2 greenhouse gases. construction and infrastructure these floors will be used massively, as CO2 stored by the trees no longer has to be released into the atmosphere.

We as a company are very proud that our entire team of European Forestry BV from Stegeren has received this high and honorable prize.
